Mongolia Sunrise to sunset

More than one week ago that i came back from Mongolia, but i still partly there even now...
The race and the trip were so beautiful, with so much amazing discovery and nice meet.
The route was very nice, through the deep forest, the mountains and along the lake Kovsgol, one of the greatest in the world, and certainly one of the most beautiful.
This 100 km seemed to be quite easy to run, in that landscapes. Even the weather was not a problem, on a clear summer day.
I started at a good pace with another french guy, my frien Stéphane Delmas, but we loose the way early and passed 20 minutes to get the right one back. After that i accelerated a little bit to much, i was angry, to come back to the lead. The sensations were so good, much more than i expected. finally i came first at the marathon passage (participants could choose the finish there) and after that i try to keep on running. I have a good gap but at the end it was not so easy. I finished first ten minutes behind a mongolian runners and the american Molly Fitzpatrick which ran a very steady pace to get the third place overall! According to his training partner Noureddine she was very well preparated. Theyre training group of the hash house hariers of Shangai recolted also the second place in the women division with the young english runner Sarah Edson, for here first 100km at age 23!
Stéphane came 4th overall after an hard passage between the 25 to 55 kms. A log racing season for him to.
After the race i enjoyed a road trip from the lake to UB through the marvellous immensity of Mongolia with my new friends from Shangai...
Next edition of that wonderfull event in July 2010. The organisation is very good, with a big work realised to encourage the protection of the environnement in that national park, so you have to go there!
There will be articles in Trail Attitude and more pictures and reports in that blog soon.
